Reports
Each month we re-read every city's permit filings and publish what moved.
A report compares the last three months of filings against the three before them, one city and one kind of work at a time, and lists what actually changed. Movement is only reported where both windows hold at least 30 permits. Below that a median swings on a handful of filings and a headline like "up 40%" describes noise rather than a market.
The underlying figures are the values applicants declared on their own permits, so a report records what people paid and filed, not what contractors quoted or what a survey estimated. Permits are also filed after the price is agreed, which means these numbers follow the market by a month or two rather than leading it.
